Altered Books & Illustrations

2020 has been a whirlwind of a year, and I know I’m not alone when I say it has caught me off guard. I have struggled to find the motivation to create, questioned whether continuing to make art was a waste of my time and even stepped back from drawing completely in April to focus on other things. Yet, in the days leading up to October I find myself working on a new altered book. Almost without thinking.

For months I have been in the midst of some big changes, but have come to realize that creating these altered books is one thing I find comfort in (after all these years of just dabbling in them). I guess I’ll always be captivated by stories.

Towards the end of this month I will be leaving Seattle and figuring out a new place to land my feet. Although I intend to work on some projects between moving, my efforts at this moment are focused on the new year. I am currently researching ways to offer online altered book classes in January 2021, along with reestablishing this blog space, as a way to be more open about my process, my work and myself (which is terrifying, but in a good way!).

I would love to hear from those of you who are interested in classes leading up to January and I will try my hardest to continue updating this space as I work. Happy first day of October, and take care.
